Bringing Back Natural Beauty in Longmont, Colorado

Posted by Heather, Health and Specialty Sales Representative

As part of our partnership with Sheryl Crow for our Simply White toothpaste, Tom’s of Maine is sponsoring Beautification Events around the country.  I had the opportunity to participate in one on May 14th – a restoration of the St. Vrain Greenway riparian area.  For this event, Tom’s of Maine partnered with Wildlands Restoration Volunteers to help bring back natural beauty to an area of Colorado that was formerly a gravel mine.

In spite of the cold, dreary weather, 135 volunteers showed up for the event, making this Wildlands Restoration Volunteers largest volunteer event ever.  Over 1,200 native plants, grasses, shrubs and trees were planted, watered in, and mulched to beautify the area.

I really enjoyed the opportunity to participate in this volunteer work, and it was a lot of fun meeting and working alongside the volunteers.  Tom’s provided food, T-Shirts, and samples of Simply White for the volunteers.  We also raffled of a pair of Sheryl Crow concert tickets for one lucky winner!   Thank you to Wildlands Restoration Volunteers and all the participants for their hard work.
