Giving Thanks

ere at Tom’s of Maine, we talk about goodness pretty often. Whether it is our recognition of nonprofits serving their local communities, our commitment to sustainability, or simply our production of all natural personal care products that you can feel good about!

But what about the everyday goodness in our own lives? Join us here at our virtual Thanksgiving dinner table to learn what Tom’s of Maine employees are most thankful for this holiday season.

I am extremely thankful for my good health, this beautiful State of Maine that I call home, for my big loving family, and for an amazing network of true friends.
Jill, R&D Specialist

I guess any parent would say more than anything in the whole world that they are thankful for their children. I can say that as well. I am thankful that I didn’t lose our daughter and especially didn’t lose the person she is. Our daughter, Tessa, was in a car accident five years ago that not only posed life-threatening immediate injuries but she also sustained a severe traumatic brain injury. Her prognosis was very poor for even a functional recovery. She was in a coma for months and we struggled to hope even for her eyes to open and didn’t even torture ourselves about thinking about her laughing, running, and going back to college. We also watched our son struggle with the thought of losing his sister and one of his best friends. After a year of hospitalization and therapy, Tessa was able to finish college and is now living on her own and working. She is getting back to running and she laughs more than she ever did!

Every single day I think about that period of our lives and am thankful for the outcome and thankful for both our kids.
Julie, Senior Scientist Product Development

I am thankful for having such wonderful and loving friends and family, my health and wellbeing, and being able to live and work the state I love the most — Maine!!
Matt, Brand Manager, Oral Care

My and my family’s health, great friends, my job, my kitten Popper who brings a smile to my face every day, and my two new nephews.
Nansy, D-Commerce Manager

I am thankful for the little things in life, those random acts of kindness that add up to so much.  It may be a smile from a stranger when I am having a rough day, or someone stopping to hold a door open when I have my hands full.  When I start to get wrapped up in the holiday hustle and bustle, I try not to lose sight of the little things and take the time to remember that random acts of kindness can go a long way.
Kristina, Citizens’ Advocacy Representative

This Thanksgiving I am the most thankful for the love and support of my friends and family during a year of great change. My 60 year old mother is living with Early Onset Alzheimer’s and my parents moved across country to California this past summer so they could get more direct support from my family. I am continually amazed at the outpouring of assistance and love given to them. And on this Thanksgiving I feel blessed to be able travel to California to be with them all, with the greatest gift being able to touch my mother’s skin again after 4 long months of being apart. It is within the smallest of touches that a lifetime of words can be spoken.
Laura, Plant Microbiologist

There are a ton of things I’m thankful for all the time…but I think for me I’m always so thankful for our family around the Holidays.  Since we don’t live close to them, they’re in Michigan, when we see them we make the most of it with lots of laughs, too much food and loads of love.
Monica, Regional Customer Team Leader

I am thankful for having great parents, the good health of my family, a creative husband, a spirited, chatty 5 year old, an interesting job, supportive, compassionate friends, enthusiastic kindergarten teachers (Mrs. Woods!) a fun neighborhood, hot showers (guilty pleasure), caramel, birch beer and nachos.
Susan, PR & Goodness Programs Manager

I am thankful for the laughter that I hear in the halls of my home and the support of my loving family.

My kids are totally awesome!
Tammy, Project Scientist

I am most thankful for all eight of my grandchildren. They are a gift from the heavens and must be cherished. I enjoy having all of them around for the holiday seasons. Playing games, decorating, or just coloring in the many books that I pick up for them. At this time, two of them have moved away and so this year we will have to hug each other by long distance.
Deborah, Customer Service
