Peanut Butter and Chocolate
Just as mint patties are the harmonious mix of peppermint and chocolate, peanut butter is a great pairing with chocolate, too. This version of peanut butter cups at Mother Nature Network gives you a base recipe to work from. You can add more honey to the peanut butter or chocolate and really make it your own.
Granola bars can be filled with many delightful flavors, like nuts, seeds, and dried fruits, for sweetness. Plus, they’re fun to make! Below is a base recipe—from here, it’s easy to modify. Wheat germ, flax seeds, and nuts are all great additions.
- 2 cups oats
- 1 cup sweetener (honey, maple syrup, or a combination of both!)
- ½ cup flour
- 1 cup chopped dried fruit (dates, raisins, or whatever else you have)
- 1 egg
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
Combine all the ingredients with a wooden spoon. Press onto a cookie sheet and bake in a preheated (350 degrees Fahrenheit) oven for 30 minutes. Once out of the oven, slice into bars while still warm, then allow them to cool before serving.
